Prayer

Inner Peace

With work, family, or any number of other responsibilities that are a commitment of your time and attention, it’s easy to feel flustered or distracted. The welcome news is that inner peace can take you away from the "busyness" of life around you, to the serenity of God’s presence within. You can begin to find your place of peace by turning to God in prayer.

Wherever you find yourself, you can turn within for a time of prayer. Or if you seek a more permanent place of comfort, you may wish to create a spiritual sanctuary—a place you can retreat to for a time of meditation and quiet contemplation.

Because peace is the key that opens the door to strength, confidence, and self-assurance, you may wish to surround yourself with meaningful objects that you can focus on during your prayer time. Perhaps beautiful flowers or natural objects appeal to your sense of simplicity and oneness with creation. Pictures of loved ones may serve as reminders of God’s many blessings in your life. You may wish to include music in your sanctuary for the soul. Music can also soothe your soul and bring you immediately to a place of calming strength.

This personal sanctuary is a place of quiet refuge. It is your pathway toward relaxation as you rediscover your inner peace.

Take a few moments to settle your body and quiet your mind. Closing your eyes, remind yourself that God is with you right now. Feel the blessed assurance of peace filling your mind and heart, pushing aside any negative thoughts or experiences.

In the silence of prayer, God is there to support you. We are here to support and encourage you too. If you’re feeling the stress of day-to-day living, we invite you to read these prayers and affirmations for inner peace and to use them in your times of prayer and meditation.
