A Flexible New Venue—Opening Winter 2024

Coming soon! A major renovation is underway as the Activities Center becomes the R.D. Goppert Event Center at Unity Village. The Goppert Foundation in Kansas City assumed a lead role in multiple major gifts toward the project. Learn more about supporting this project.

Our partners—Pearce Construction and FOCAL Design Studio—began work in September 2023 to transform the existing Activities Center into a flexible, state-of-the-art facility that will provide numerous options for fundraisers, trade shows, concerts, and other events. This new community resource will offer seating for between 500 to 1,000 depending on the setup.

I’d like more information about booking an event at the R.D. Goppert Event Center.

The History of the Activities Center

Unity officials dedicated the 23,786-square-foot Activities Center at Unity Village, Missouri, in April 1975. While the building includes arches and a red tile roof like other buildings at Unity Village, it also mirrored the 1970s architectural designs of the Kansas City-based Linscott-Haylett architecture firm.

After renovation, the R.D. Goppert Event Center at Unity Village will continue to fulfill the building’s original purpose. From a 1973 brochure: “Designed for maximum usefulness, the auditorium will also provide facilities for conventions, retreats, lectures, seminars, movies, multimedia presentations, as well as musical and dramatic productions.”

More About the Goppert Foundation

The Goppert Foundation was established in 1958 by Clarence H. Goppert, a banker and philanthropist who believed in reinvesting earnings back into the community. The foundation provides grants for medical facilities, civic centers, education, and other projects. The Event Center is named in honor of the late Richard Dean Goppert, founder of the Goppert Banks and Foundation.
